Carolina Panthers Sign Former College Basketball Player Colin Granger as Tight End
The Carolina Panthers are taking a unique approach to bolster their offense, signing a promising new talent with a non-traditional background. On Monday, the team announced the addition of Colin Granger, a former college basketball player, to their tight end group.
Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 225 pounds, Granger brings elite size and athleticism to the position as he begins his professional football journey. Though new to the sport, his raw physical tools and potential have caught the attention of the Panthers' coaching staff.
Granger’s collegiate basketball career began at Ohio University, followed by two seasons at Western Carolina, and he wrapped up his time on the hardwood at Coastal Carolina. Now, he's looking to make a name for himself in the NFL as a tight end.
With this signing, Granger joins a crowded tight end room in Carolina, which currently features Tommy Tremble, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Jordan Matthews, James Mitchell, and Dominique Dafney. The addition of Granger brings the total number of tight ends on the Panthers’ 90-man offseason roster to six.
This move signals the Panthers’ willingness to explore unconventional talent as they look to build a dynamic and versatile offense for the upcoming season.
