KC Royals Injury Report: Updates on Dairon Blanco, Alec Marsh, and More

As the 2025 MLB season rolls into April, the Kansas City Royals are still battling early-season injury woes, with several key players on the sidelines. While updates on James McArthur and Kyle Wright remain limited, there have been a few notable developments on other injured Royals over the weekend.
Dairon Blanco Injury Update: PRP Injection Delays Return
Dairon Blanco, who was placed on the 10-day injured list on March 31 with right Achilles tendinopathy, recently underwent a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection to help address the issue.
The speedy outfielder will be inactive for 3–5 days following the injection. This makes a return within the original 10-day IL window highly unlikely.
"No activity for 3-5 days,” reported Rogers, signalling an indefinite return timeline for the Royals' outfield speedster.
Blanco’s absence comes at a tough time, with multiple KC outfielders underperforming. Tyler Tolbert, who was called up when Blanco hit the IL, has since filled the bench role, providing much-needed speed and defensive coverage.
Alec Marsh Suffers Setback in Shoulder Recovery
Right-handed pitcher Alec Marsh has encountered a setback in his recovery from right shoulder soreness.
As reported by Anne Rogers, Marsh experienced renewed discomfort during an extended spring training outing last Thursday in Arizona. The Royals have opted to shut him down for 7–10 days as a precaution.
“Same shoulder he was dealing with before, so we're just going to try to be cautious,” manager Matt Quatraro told Rogers.
This news comes as a blow to a Royals bullpen that’s already feeling the strain early in the season. A healthy Marsh would be a valuable addition to the pitching staff once cleared.
