Michael Strahan Eyes Minority Ownership Stake in New York Giants
Former New York Giants legend and current Fox Sports analyst Michael Strahan is reportedly looking to return to Big Blue — this time as a minority owner.
Strahan is working with billionaire investor Marc Lasry — the former co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks — in a bid to acquire a stake in the Giants.
Giants Exploring Minority Stake Sale
Back in February, news emerged that the New York Giants were exploring the sale of up to 10% of the franchise. Co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch are seeking two to three strategic investors to buy into the storied NFL team while maintaining full operational control.
The proposed sale comes in the wake of a 2023 NFL rule change allowing private equity firms to purchase up to a 10% stake in teams. This has opened the door for high-profile investors, celebrities, and former players to get involved in team ownership.
Eli Manning Also in the Mix
Strahan isn’t the only former Giant looking to invest, two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning is also assembling an investment group to acquire a portion of the team.
In a January interview with CNBC Sport, Manning expressed interest in joining the Giants' ownership ranks:
“There’s probably only one team I’d be interested in pursuing and it’s the one I played for for 16 years. And it’s local and makes the most sense, but we’ve just got to figure out if they would ever sell a little bit.”
What’s Next for Giants Ownership?
While Mara and Tisch remain firmly in control of the franchise, the minority stake sale is expected to set a new valuation record for an NFL team. With names like Michael Strahan, Eli Manning, and Marc Lasry in the conversation, the Giants are poised to attract both financial and cultural capital.
