Rams to Host Rising QB Prospect Jalen Milroe Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft — Future Successor to Matthew Stafford?

The Los Angeles Rams are locked in with Matthew Stafford for the near future, but a surprising quarterback twist has emerged just weeks ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. According to FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Rams are set to host Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, a fast-rising draft prospect who's turning heads across the league.
"Milroe’s name has been gaining steam in recent weeks," Schultz posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Jalen Milroe: The Rams’ Next Franchise QB?
Milroe, the dynamic former Crimson Tide quarterback, has skyrocketed up draft boards thanks to his elite athleticism, arm strength, and dual-threat ability. Once seen as a mid-round selection, he's now drawing Day 1 and Day 2 interest, with NFL Network’s Chad Reuter projecting Milroe to be selected No. 68 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
But his scheduled visit with Los Angeles may change the conversation.
With Stafford turning 37 in February and having recently restructured his contract to stay with the Rams, the franchise is clearly still committed to its Super Bowl-winning veteran. However, Milroe's visit suggests that GM Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay are exploring long-term options at the quarterback position.
Implications for Stetson Bennett and Rams’ Offense
The potential selection of Milroe also casts uncertainty over the future of Stetson Bennett, the Rams’ 2023 fourth-round pick and former Georgia national champion. Bennett missed the entire 2024 season after being placed on the non-football injury list, and Milroe’s arrival could signal a shift in the team’s QB depth chart.
Beyond personnel decisions, Milroe’s skillset could transform the Rams' offensive identity. Known for his elite mobility and ability to extend plays, the Alabama standout would give McVay a true dual-threat quarterback—a major departure from the traditional pocket passers he’s coached in L.A.
NFL Pedigree and Rising Stock
Though Milroe played under Kalen DeBoer in his final college season, he remains one of the last high-profile recruits brought in by legendary coach Nick Saban. Past Alabama quarterbacks like Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts have made significant NFL impacts—Milroe could be next in line.
As NFL Draft weekend approaches (April 24–27), Milroe is a name to watch for Rams fans and league insiders alike. If Los Angeles is serious about grooming a successor to Stafford, Milroe may very well be their quarterback of the future.
