Red Wings Top Stars 6-4 in Thrilling Home Finale as Seider, Raymond Shine
The Detroit Red Wings closed out their regular-season home schedule with a dramatic 6-4 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night at Little Caesars Arena.
Moritz Seider broke a 4-4 tie with a clutch power-play goal early in the third period, while Lucas Raymond added insurance midway through the final frame. Veteran winger Vladimir Tarasenko sealed the win with an empty-net goal, helping Detroit snap a three-game skid.
Jonatan Berggren tied the game just minutes before Seider's go-ahead tally, while Albert Johansson and Alex DeBrincat each lit the lamp in the opening period to give Detroit an early edge. Goalie Cam Talbot made 25 saves in the Red Wings’ final home appearance of the 2024-25 season.
Despite a late push from the Stars, highlighted by Wyatt Johnston's goal that brought them within one with just over seven minutes left, Dallas couldn't complete the comeback. Colin Blackwell also scored a short-handed goal in the second, and Lian Bichsel and Evgenii Dadonov added markers for the Stars. Goalie Jake Oettinger stopped 31 shots in the loss.
Dallas, aiming for another deep playoff run after back-to-back Western Conference Final appearances, will face the Colorado Avalanche in the first round of the 2025 NHL Playoffs. The matchup marks their seventh postseason meeting, with Dallas eliminating Colorado in the second round last year.
The Red Wings, on the other hand, have now officially extended their playoff drought to nine consecutive seasons.
