Mel Kiper Jr. Highlights Potential Steelers Targets in 2025 NFL Draft
ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. recently revealed several of his favorite 2025 NFL Draft prospects — and many of them could be on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ radar.
Among Kiper’s top names are Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson, TCU wide receiver Savion Williams, William & Mary offensive tackle Charles Grant, Western Kentucky cornerback Upton Stout, and Texas safety Andrew Mukuba. The Steelers have been linked to each of these players during the pre-draft process.
Dylan Sampson – Running Back, Tennessee
Sampson stands out as Kiper’s favorite running back in this class. He’s known for explosive speed and toughness, racking up 820 yards after contact and 12 runs of 20+ yards last season. Sampson also showed red-zone efficiency, scoring on 8 of 11 carries inside the 3-yard line. The Steelers hosted him for a pre-draft visit and met with him at the Combine and Tennessee’s Pro Day.
Savion Williams – Wide Receiver, TCU
Williams drew attention for his versatility, contributing both as a receiver and ball carrier. Kiper compared him to Cordarrelle Patterson due to his dual-threat capability. The Steelers met with him during the pre-draft process, suggesting serious interest.
Charles Grant – Offensive Tackle, William & Mary
A small-school standout, Grant is viewed by Kiper as the best offensive tackle prospect. The Steelers spoke with him at the NFL Combine and closely monitored his Pro Day. Grant could be a valuable mid-round option to develop behind their current starters.
Upton Stout – Cornerback, Western Kentucky
Kiper’s top-rated cornerback, Stout brings agility and man-to-man coverage skills. The Steelers had a formal meeting with him at the Combine, making him a potential target to add depth to their secondary.
Andrew Mukuba – Safety, Texas
Mukuba ranks as Kiper’s favorite safety. Known for his range and physicality, he’s someone the Steelers evaluated at Texas’ Pro Day and engaged with ahead of the event.
With the draft approaching, the Steelers appear to be casting a wide net across multiple positions. Their close evaluations of these top prospects reflect a clear strategy to bolster the roster with young talent.
